QUESTION 1: WILL THE OMEGA PROTOCOL WORK FOR ME (or my loved one)?
ANSWER: There is no way to know if omega-3s will help in any particular situation. Our experience is that the brain needs to be saturated with high doses of omega-3s in order for the brain to have the opportunity to heal – even months or years after an injury.
Without an optimal supply of omegas, healing is less likely to happen. Omega-3s are not a drug and not a cure. Omegas may have a positive impact on neuroprotection of brain cells, neuroinflammation, and neuroregeneration. Every situation is different and some people may respond better than others. However, there is no downside to providing optimal levels of nutrition in order to give a patient the best opportunity to regain as much function as possible.

ANSWER: See the protocols (See below). Doses are specifically detailed there. WE CAN ONLY GIVE YOU MORE SPECIFIC ANSWERS AFTER YOU ESTABLISH A DOCTOR-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP (See #6 below).
QUESTION 4: WHAT IS THE DOSE (PROTOCOL) THAT SHOULD BE USED FOR PATIENTS WHO ARE NOT ADULTS (KIDS, PEDIATRICS)?
ANSWER: BASIC STARTING PROTOCOLS ARE SPELLED OUT UNDER THE RESOURCE SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE .
- In general, a single “dose” is based on 40mg combined EPA+DHA per kg of weight (approximately 20mg per pound, so a 50 pound child a dose would be about 1000mg per dose). Check for how many doses under the appropriate protocol published on this website.
- For smaller patients including infants, you will have to read the label of the product being considered and do some math.
- For an “average-sized” adult (typically age 12 and older), this works out to be the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) dose of 3000mg combined EPA+DHA (typically 3-5 gelcaps of a good quality fish oil)
